A Message From Mrs. Carolyn A. Wilkovich, Principal
The goal of the Rochester Elementary School is to provide students with a solid foundation for lifelong learning and to foster positive interpersonal relationships within a safe and nurturing environment. The educational program is directly aligned to the state and national standards with an emphasis on differentiating instruction to address the individual needs of all students.
Teachers employ “best practices” in their teaching and all students receive instruction in a Balanced Literacy Program, Math, Music, Art, Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, Library, and Computers. Four networked computers are utilized in each classroom with “state of the art” programs to complement instruction. There are three labs to support instruction; an Early Literacy Lab for grades K, 1, and 2 with “Imagination Station” software, a K-5 computer lab using “Techworks” and a Read 180 lab supporting our reading program for grades 4 and 5. A filter blocks all inappropriate material and teacher supervision is always maintained.
We pride ourselves with one of the first full day Kindergarten programs in Beaver County. This enables the teachers to spend time in early reading skills, corrections of developmental gaps and to provide support for interpersonal development. Registration is conducted in April of each year with a screening taking place in May. A Kinder Camp is also planned each year as an introduction for parents and students. Call 724-775-7500 for an appointment for registration/screening. By Board of Education policy, children must be five years of age by the first day of school to be considered eligible to register. You must bring the following: photo identification, birth certificate, social security card, immunization records and proof of residency (deed or lease).
Our handbook can be found on the upcoming link which will explain all rules, regulations and procedures for a smooth operation of our school.
Rochester Elementary School offers many opportunities for enrichment, advancement, and achievement. We assess students’ instructional levels with the MClass DIBELS, DRA, Stanford9, end-of-year unit tests, quizzes, and both formal and informal observation. The principal, teachers, and paraprofessionals work collaboratively to ensure an excellent learning environment for all students.
